Community Support

As Ramadan begins to draw to a close, we’re reminded of the current situation that has affected all of us. The Covid-19 pandemic continues to have a devastating impact all over the world, as well as in our communities. At Islamic Relief USA, we recognise the importance of supporting our communities through this challenging period so that Insha’Allah, we bounce back from this with as little repercussions as possible. It is only by sticking together that we will be able to do so, that’s why we’ve come up with some ways that you can help your community during this time.

  1. Be mindful

This one is pretty obvious, but we figure it’s worth mentioning anyway. Please be mindful of the fact that it’s so crucial that we stick to the rules and regulations that have been put in place by the health authorities. So, keep social distancing, staying at home unless you have to go to work, the store or you need some exercise. The situation and the rules are changing all the time, so please stay up to date with your local health guidelines.

  • Volunteer

Volunteer your time to helping the community, there are so many ways you can volunteer to help out. Whether it’s local foodbanks, or delivering food to those who are unable to go and get it themselves. Search online for volunteering opportunities that are available near you and help support your community.

  • Donate

You may be unable to volunteer for a number of reasons but that doesn’t mean you can’t still be a part of making a difference. You can still take part by supporting those who are volunteering. At Islamic Relief USA we’re working tirelessly to reach those affected by the Coronavirus. We’ve launched several mammoth initiatives and it’s by your support and the grace of Allah that we’re able to carry out this work. Help us to continue to do so. • Stay local

Whilst this pandemic continues on for an as yet undetermined amount, independent local businesses are being hit hard. As a community, it’s our duty to help those local business to keep going and offer purchase what we can to support them. If there is a business near you that’s been able to stay open, please support them in any way you’re able to.

  • Key workers

The amazing people who go to work on the frontlines every day are representatives of the wonderful spirit that humans can possess Masha’Allah. Whether they’re doctors, nurses, police officers or delivery drivers, some of them are even our family members. It’s so important that we offer our support to them in any way we can. Even a sign in your window can make a difference for a passing key worker who may see it and could be a great morale boost.

These are indeed strange times, but Insha’Allah with a strong sense of togetherness and support within our local communities and beyond. As well as by the grace of Allah. Insha’Allah things will get better.

As narrated in Tirmidhi, the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) The best companion to Allah is the best to his companions, and the best neighbor to Allah is the best to his neighbors.”

We pray that you and your loved ones are safe and well Insha’Allah,

Jazakullah Khair.
