Ramadan Reflections: Day 29 Nafs Hack with Fatimah Aulaqi
Nafs Hack: Maintaining Your Happiness
Assalamu alaikum. My name is Fatimah Aulaqi, and this is your Ramadan Nafs Hack.
Many of the viewers know that this is my eighth year living with multiple sclerosis. It’s an autoimmune disease that attacks your central nervous system.
What keeps me going every day is Allah (SWT) and my tawakkul. I keep my whole trust in Allah (SWT) knowing he gave me this chronic illness for a reason.
I always go by this verse in the Qur’an, ‘Allah (SWT) does not put burden on a soul more than they can bear.’
I know that Allah (SWT) has given me this illness for a reason, and I’m very happy with it, and if there’s no cure for it then I’ll live with it for the rest of my life. That’s how positive I am.
And staying positive is the key. Also, being happy and laughing. I love laughing. I love working out. I love training—I’m a personal trainer. And, I love reading memes. When I read memes, it makes me laugh (like the dry humor memes). I’ll send them to all my friends and family even though they’ll tell me, ‘Oh, that’s not funny.’ Well, I think it’s funny, and it makes me laugh!
So, my reminder for today is to always be happy and stay positive. Try your best to do whatever it takes to keep you stress free, because stress does cause a lot of issues—especially in the body. Mind over matter.
So, stay happy, have full trust and faith in Allah (SWT), and you’ll keep going.
