How to Butterfly a Turkey: A Special Episode of IRUSA Cooks for a Cause

Haven’t figured out how to cook your turkey yet? Not to fear, ReliefLab is here! Your favorite cooking duo Bilal and Chancey have you covered with this Butterfly Turkey recipe. Tune in to find out what that even means!

This episode was extra special because it took place on the Prophet Muhammad’s birthday, peace and blessing be on him. After cooking delicious turkeys (and mashed potatoes from scratch!), we went out to D.C. and handed out the food to our homeless brothers and sisters. What better way to honor the birth of the prophet than to do something he used to love: feeding the hungry. They were so grateful to have a warm meal, and they kept exclaiming how delicious it was.

It made us think of the importance of not only giving, but of giving from what we would love to have ourselves. If we’re enjoying gourmet meals, why are we handing out peanut butter and jelly sandwiches? It was wonderful to see how much they enjoyed it.

This episode was funded through donations from IRUSA staff as a special way to give back to the local community. We hope you enjoy it, and please do try this recipe and let us know how it turns out! We promise, it’s delicious.
